Researching Digipaks

I started by researching Digipak's to see what other artists had done and if i wanted to use any of their ideas.

This is the front cover of the single, Love the Way you Lie by Eminem and Rihanna; I believed that this was a good starting point as we had looked at this song previously in our research. Having just Eminem on the front cover i believe gives off more of an affect that having Eminem and Rihanna on the cover, especially as the song is based on a break up. Moreover having the colour text and the black and white image, helps stand out the image.

The back of this digipak is very bold and dark. The colour choice is red, black and white. However the back cover is very 'full up'/ overloaded with information.

This is Rihanna's good girl gone bad album. Having the one image on the front i like, by only having one person as you are drawn straight away to that. The image is quite zoomed in and has a slight worms eye view to the image, it comes across as very powerful and a strong woman. Also having a plain background adds more attention to the image of the person. The cover is very simple with only one colour of the blue then the rest greys and blacks. However this does work really well, and does not come across as dull, which it could do. I would like to have simple and basic colours on my front cover of the digipak, however i will need to be careful that it does not look boring.

This is the disc for the Rihanna album. Again the same colour scheme has been used. Having the same colour scheme throughout gives it a professional feel, and keeps the continuity throughout. You will also find most CD's have the same theme throughout the digipak. The disc is very basic, but it is all it needs to be, nothing else needs to be added. However when making our disc, i already had the idea of some how putting an image of me and matt kissing on the disc, it does not match my research but i wanted to try something different.

This is Plan B's album, strickland banks. This is completely different to the Rihanna album. Plan B is in the centre of the cover, zoomed out, with a background. Plan B is not looking at the camera which could be seem as suspicious and intriguing as we are slightly unsure. The text has been set out in a film premiere way, as if it is introducing Plan B. This is extremely effective and works well, especially as Plan B is a new artist. The colour scheme is works really well, the red, white and black. Looks good and professional, the colours have clearly been chosen on a theatre scheme.

This is the Plan B' s album's disc. Again the same colours have been used throughout. Most CD's stick with the same CD to look professional. The CD looks like a record, which i think goes well with the old theatre look of the front cover, then using a record. I think this is extremely clever and has been designed brilliantly.
